Sourcing Manager (BPO)

What you ll be doing...

Verizon s Strategic Sourcing organization is seeking a dynamic professional who is interested in joining our team. The Manager will play a lead role in supporting Verizon s cost savings and revenue generation business goals through the sourcing process for the engagement of business process outsourcing (BPO) services from a third-party supplier, all while driving cost savings that improve profit margins.

Verizon is seeking a professional with strong experience in Sourcing, supplier negotiations and data gathering in support of the business BPO needs. A key aspect of the Sourcing role is building collaborative relationships with internal business partners, as well as strategic relationships with suppliers. The Manager will actively support multiple time-sensitive requests, work independently and effectively interface with all levels of executives in the company, while efficiently ensuring the Sourcing process is completed in a manner that is consistent with Verizon policies and goals. A successful candidate will be required to have the knowledge, skills and experience for the development and execution of strategic levers existing across the enterprise to achieve the best total value for Verizon. This would include responsibility for continual monitoring of the supplier base, market trends and internal business roadmaps that would impact the sourcing strategy.

With respect to the supplier selection and negotiation process, the Manager will be responsible for understanding the capabilities of the supplier base, RFx development and execution, proposal evaluation against business requirements and drafting and negotiating of contract scope, terms and conditions.

The Manager will also be expected to take on additional projects as needed to support business requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads various Cross Functional Teams (CFT) to determine business and technical requirements and drafts the necessary language to translate them into binding contract documents (i. e., Statements of Work (SOW)) for review by internal Contract Managers and Legal and/or suppliers. This also includes leading the CFT to reach consensus, meet milestones and complete contracting by business partner required dates.
  • Drives all aspects of the complex strategic sourcing process, including but not limited to, taking the lead on creation of supplier contracts, contract negotiations of business and pricing terms and conditions, conducting market research and providing benchmark data on pricing and/or other key terms, facilitating RFx events and working with the internal business partners to develop negotiations strategies, objectives and plans.
  • Has in depth understanding of the Verizon business structure. Understands roles and interrelations of operating functions. Works with business partners to resolve supplier related business issues. Must function as an internal facilitator across Verizon.
  • Understands supply chain management issues including warranty, quality controls, acceptance testing, trial agreements, service level agreements and scope of work issues.
  • Maximizes Verizon s purchasing power to achieve a lower cost while mitigating risk.
  • Ability to negotiate with suppliers concerning complex contract provisions including Indemnification, Direct Damages, Intellectual Property Rights, Laws and Regulations regarding IT services, Supplier Audits, Dispute Resolution, Hiring and Tenure, Management Policies and Procedures, Confidentiality Terms and Termination Rights.
  • Analysis of supplier proposals and presentation of key elements to the CFT.
  • Manages supplier relationships, effectively maintaining positive and ethical working relationships. Acts as a point of contact for supplier management related items such as contract compliance and/or assistance with determining performance standards.
  • Supplier rationalization leverages existing supplier base to appropriately consolidate supply base.
  • Has a working knowledge of Sourcing Best Practices.
  • Earns the business partner s respect and serves as a trusted advisor by staying current with industry trends for the consulting category. Plans and proposes sourcing strategies that best support the business.
  • Collaborates closely with key business partners to understand their priorities and challenges; assesses their needs on an ongoing basis; and manage their expectations.

What we re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of experience
  • 6 or more years ofrelated experience in Strategic Sourcing and/or Contract Management:
    • Project management in complex multi-project and multi-geography environment
    • Experience with competitive bids (RFx), as well as direct negotiations
    • Knowledge of Strategic Sourcing processes, policies and procedures
    • Experience in contract negotiations to include business, price, licensing models and related technical terms
    • Experience in drafting contract documents required for the establishment of business content elements, e. g. SOWs, LOAs, etc.
  • Project Management experience to support multi-tiered revenue generation efforts
  • Strong analytical skills. Experience in data analysis and supplier assessment.
  • Strong interpersonal and client service skills.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Even better if you have:

  • Master s degree (MBA), Juris Doctorate or equivalent advanced degree
  • Certifications from the National Contract Management Association (NCMA):
    • Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM)
    • Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM)
  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) from the Institute of Supply Chain Management (ISM)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills and work independently to make sound business decisions on behalf of the company.



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
