Lead Corporate Policy Accountant

What you ll be doing...

The Corporate Accounting team is the global professional practices group within Verizon. Your position will contribute to these areas:

  • Participating in strategic initiatives, new product offerings, partnerships/joint ventures and other key drivers of Verizon s future growth.
  • Assisting senior management with making critical business decisions by providing the proper accounting treatment and impact analysis.
  • Accelerating transformation and change, creating best practices and driving continuous process improvement.
  • Working with department and business leaders on front-end process ideas, solutions and change.
  • Establishing, maintaining and supporting compliance with companywide accounting policies.
  • Researching accounting issues and preparing accounting documentation to ensure compliance with GAAP.
  • Reviewing and providing technical guidance for material transactions and complex accounting issues.
  • Supporting implementation of new accounting standards.
  • Reviewing business unit initiatives and transactions to ensure consistent application of the Company s accounting policies.
  • Providing guidance and supporting other finance and business unit initiatives.
  • Researching emerging accounting and reporting issues and preparing and submitting comment letters on behalf of the Company.
  • Developing and presenting technical accounting training sessions to accounting and finance employees.
  • Supporting quarterly close process and related disclosures.
  • Interacting with the Company's external auditors.

You ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant.
  • Experience in Accounting/Finance.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Two or more years of Big 4 experience.
  • Four or more years of experience in Accounting/Finance.
  • Strong technical financial skills and a comprehensive understanding of accounting, GAAP, PCAOB standards and SEC regulations.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
